Welcome to Downtown Pembroke, Ontario

Welcome to the Pembroke Downtown Development Commission, which in essence is a BIA (Business Improvement Area).

Our Vision
The PDDC has a twofold mandate:
 • To oversee the improvement, beautification and maintenance of municipally owned land, buildings and structures in the area beyond that provided by the municipality generally, and
 • To promote the area as a business and shopping district.

What is the PDDC?
The PDDC is a geographic area in this municipality, basically the downtown core which takes in from McKay Street to Christie Street and Lake Street to Isabella Street. We have a board of management which is an organization set up to provide business promotion and improvement functions.

The PDDC is local business people and property owners joined together with the support of the City of Pembroke, to organize, finance and carry out physical improvement and promote economic development in the downtown core. City Council is the body responsible for approving the budget of the PDDC.  There are now more than 240 BIA’s in place across the province. They vary in size from 60 businesses and property owners to more than 2,000. Presently the PDDC has over 200 members.

The PDDC relies on it’s members as a self-help approach to revitalizing, strengthening and improving the downtown. Through the members input and support the downtown continually improves and prospers.  more info
